Your burning hot questions for Lauryn are in. Today we’re going to go over Lauryn’s take on the newborn stage with baby #3 and get into all her most-used newborn items.

As the third Bosstick baby and having a mom as specific as Lauryn, you can bet that Bond’s nursery is filled with absolute essentials. Essentials that Lauryn has come to find necessary in the newborn stage. Keyword: NECESSARY.

Whether you have one kid or more, you soon realize that all the stuff you think you need, you really don’t. They grow so fast and therefore OUT of all the things you’re told ‘you have to have.’

You’ll figure out what works for you and probably save some serious money when it comes to baby 2 or 3. In the meantime, Lauryn is answering all your newborn questions and sharing her most-used baby items.

But first, let’s get her take on breastfeeding, formula, night nurses and more.

NEWBORN Q&A WITH LAURYN:

Did you let the hospital bathe the baby?

L: No. I didn’t with any of my kids and I waited a long time to give them a bath. There are a few reasons. Not giving them a bath protects the vernix caseosa. It’s the white stuff they’re born with all over them and it’s antibacterial and helps keep their skin moisturized. Basically, it’s protective. Also, a bath can be stressful the second you enter the world. I wanted to keep things calm and get as much uninterupted skin to skin action as possible.

Now that we’re doing baths I love this bathtub and set from Lalo and this shampoo.

What are the pros and cons of a night nurse?

L: A big pro is SLEEP. Ours is an actual nurse and is an extra set of hands. It helps me have time with my other kids and gives me more sleep so that I can recover properly postpartum. That means getting feelings and emotions regulated. It also helps me with knowledge and education in the newborn phase. My mom and grandma have both passed so I find this very helpful. I also need to be thinking clearly, checking in with work and spending time with Zaza and Townes.

For me, a night nurse is worth the money. They have to have the right energy, and you have to be ok with someone being in your home to help.

What laundry detergent do you use?

L: Right now I’m using unscented Molly’s Suds powder and liquid. It works really well and is super gentle on skin.

What pregnancy pillow did you use? Are you using a breastfeeding pillow?

L: This pregnancy pillow changed my whole pregnancy. I used it every single day and night and it helped me sleep comfortably, which is so hard. Especially in late stage pregnancy. And yes, I’ve been using this nursing pillow. It’ll save your arms and will keep your baby comfortable, hopefully letting you enjoy the nursing phase.

How long are you going to breastfeed for? Are you using formula?

L: I’m not putting any pressure on myself when it comes to breastfeeding. I’ll stop when it feels right for me and Bond. I haven’t used formula yet but if I do it will probably be Bobbie or Nara, which was just recommended to me by Nicky Hilton. The founder of Bobbie was on the show not too long ago and we did a deep dive into the world of baby formula. I think Bobbie would be an amazing choice too (use code SKINNY).

What prenatal do you take? Do you take a postnatal?

L: For all 3 of my pregnancies I’ve used Ritual (use code SKINNY). All of their supplements contain traceable ingredients and are high quality. Every product is super clean and I just feel like they work better than others. If you want to know more, the founders have been on the podcast twice: here and here.

Where do you get placenta pills? Who makes them?

L: @nycgyno made me pills and placental exosomes with mine. He’s coming on the show soon so stay tuned for more on all the benefits of eating your placenta. In the meatime, here’s my experience from encapuslating my placenta with Zaza.

What are your most used baby items? Give all your recs.

L: Diapers and wipes, obviously. I like Coterie because they’re the cleanest I’ve found.

All things Bumpsuit. Number one is the carrier, but I’m obsessed with everything in our LB x Bumpsuit kits.

Grass-fed beef tallow balm, for the baby and me. (Use code SKINNY.)

Cranial sacral massage for Bond. He had this and myofascial release and he loved it. If you’re in Austin I highly recommend Ananda Phsyical Therapy and Wellness. They were amazing and it immediately relaxes their nervous system. Bond was so happy after, it was so cute.

My boobs are getting used a lot. The Mint Roller has been a life-saver for my sore nipples. It is the most soothing releif to place it on my boobs after nursing. Things get really sore.

This pump and this pumping bra. I always try to multitask when I pump. I like to do it on my patio while I get morning light, or read, or ice roll while I pump.
