The real reason for Prince William and Prince Andrew’s rumored feud has finally been revealed, and it has to do with Andrew’s alleged “rude” comment toward William’s wife, Kate Middleton.

According to Andrew Lownie’s bombshell book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York
, William has had a “tense” relationship with his uncle since his 2014 sex trafficking lawsuit and connection to convicted sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell started to affect the reputation of the British royal family.

However, things went from bad to worse when Andrew made an alleged “rude” comment toward Kate, though the details of what he said weren’t revealed. The book also reported that William has been trying for years to get Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, evicted from the Royal Lodge, the 30-room mansion the former couple live in on the Windsor Castle grounds. A source told Lownie that William wants to evict Andrew because he believes his uncle hasn’t maintained the property and it’s fallen into a state of disrepair over the past year.

“[William] also loathes Sarah, Andrew’s ex-wife, and can’t wait for the day when his father throws them both out. If Charles doesn’t, I guarantee you the first thing William does when he eventually becomes king is to get them evicted,” the source said.

Rumors of a feud between William and Andrew have swirled for years, however, royal fans took notice when William, Kate, and their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—were missing from the royal family’s Easter Sunday service at St George’s Chapel in April 2025, which Andrew made a rare appearance at.

“William has no time for his uncle. This Easter was about spending time with his own family, but he would far prefer a situation where he doesn’t have to spend time with him,” a source told The Mirror at the time. Another insider added, “The Duke seems to be in the habit of being a significant contributor of headaches for the family and many have run out of patience with him.”

News of Andrew’s alleged “rude” comment toward Kate also comes after British royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News in May 2025 that William plans to exile Andrew once he becomes king after harboring a “grudge against his disgraced uncle” for a long time.

Prince William has long had a strained and distant relationship with Andrew,” Fordwich said of William’s plans once he takes the crown after his father, King Charles, either steps down or dies “Andrew’s future within the royal family is beyond bleak, since Prince William is firmly opposed to any public rehabilitation with no foreseeable path back. He wants Andrew to vanish from public view.”
