Kenya’s fragile political situation
The African schedule was originally supposed to commence in March but that did not happen because of the scorching summer heat. Things looked set for a July schedule, and the entire unit is scheduled to travel to East Africa in July second week for a crucial phase of filming. However, according to sources, the team isn’t optimistic due to the current political clashes in Kenya. Rajamouli wanted to film intense action sequences in the wild and dense forests of Africa. But at the same time the filmmaker doesn’t want to take any chances, regarding security. The director believes that the exotic locations in the action adventure would lend a fresh and immersive backdrop to the story. Also, East Africa is known for its iconic landscapes and abundant wildlife. But given the present scenario, it looks unlikely that the unit would proceed.

Rajamouli aspires for grand visuals
Last year, Rajamouli scouted for locations in Africa and finalised exotic and picturesque landscapes surrounding Masai Mara, Amboseli, and Tsavo National Parks. Being a filmmaker who is renowned for his grand visuals, he wanted to bring out the wilderness in the action adventure. But if their upcoming Kenya tour is pushed back now, perhaps the unit has to chalk out a fresh production schedule, according to the dates and availability of actors. While the situation is a bit tricky for the filmmaker, they are hoping that the situation in Kenya eases out a bit.
