Elon Musk has once again used X, formerly known as Twitter, to insert himself into cultural debates, this time starting with a post of the St. George’s Cross, which is the red on white flag commonly associated with England.
Not long after sharing the image, Musk engaged with a post from user Adam Lowisz who argued that “white guilt” is harmful and that people should not be made to feel ashamed of their identity. The post included a photo with the words “It’s Okay To Be White” written across it. Musk responded in agreement, signaling his support.
The phrase “It’s Okay to Be White” has been controversial in recent years because of its adoption by certain extremist groups, though others argue it is simply a statement about identity. Musk’s interaction did not spark widespread backlash, but it did reignite conversations about race, self-identity, and free speech online.
